The first time completion bonuses are great, but it’s not worth struggling to beat Rifts that are well above your current level.

Gain XP Bursts from Challenge Rifts - Conversely, Challenge Rifts are better for grinding out occasional XP bursts.

This is a great place to earn Massacre Exp Bonuses and can be repeated infinitely, making them one of the best XP farms in the game. They can be found easier by using the minimap. Elder Rifts, which scale to your level, can be completed quickly by seeking the enemies marked in blue.

Farm Eternal Rifts - Both types of Rifts are located in Westmarch.

Your maximum amount of Bounties for the day increases by the amount you don’t complete the day before, up to 24. They can be completed relatively quickly, give a fair amount XP, and give you the opportunity to find beneficial objects like Monster Essence or Pools of Reflection.

Do Daily Bounties - Bounties are located in Westmarch and 8 are given per day.

Pools of Reflection can be found to temporarily make all enemies drop these when killed.

Gather Experience Globes - Kill strong enemies with a blue, yellow or purple hue on themselves and on their map icon to find Experience Globes.

If you’re looking to dredge the most XP out of a given encounter, don't fully eliminate every group of enemies and quickly move to the next location to gather larger groups of them together - hitting this multiplier and then racking up additional kills is the way to go. Hitting a monster resets the 3 second deadline before the chain ends.

Reach Higher Massacre Multipliers - Quickly killing 15 enemies earns you an XP buff for subsequent kills.

Even the free battle pass grants huge bonus XP and items as you level it up, making it more than worth paying attention to. Keep an eye out for activities that grant XP bonuses and Battle Pass Points.

Check your Codex - Progress on your Codex happens naturally as you play, but look out for sections that specifically give experience and claim rewards as you complete them.

Once you reach a point where you need to level to progress, keep these other tips in mind. Progress the Main Story - This may seem obvious, but it’s worth mentioning: Complete the main story as far as you can to unlock new abilities, venders and further ways to gain experience.
